I’m a Columnist

What a Job

I’m not sure why I never got around to sharing this news earlier, but it’s about time that I say out loud that I am now a columnist at Families Online.

I had so many ideas about what I was going to do when I became a dad, and the reality is that life changes so much once that day comes that you properly cannot stick to your promises. I’m blaming sleep deprivation on the majority of those, although so many new things come into your world that you just can’t do it all.

Cameo landed on the first day of 2017. That year I was holding down a full-time job, whilst maintaining near-daily updates on ProbablyBusy.com and attempting to build a business with Amazon. All of that meant that I didn’t have the time for another side project in the way that I once did.

One of the many plans I had was to make a blog from the perspective of then-yet-to-be-born Cameo. While that didn’t happen, a couple of years later I got around to this site and have been sharing insights of dad life ever since. Two twos and Families Online (plus Emma’s Diary, also within its umbrella) have had me onboard filling in gaps and writing about dad topics for the past few months.

Let me tell you – it has been YEARS since I’ve had to write for other publications with my name actually credited, and it feels weird. It’s a completely different writing process compared to all the other websites I write for. It takes significantly longer. And I feel it – just knowing how many more eyeballs are on my work than usual. However, it’s fun being challenged to write for a change. All of this writing for myself stuff is fun, but it’s easy when there’s no accountability.

Chiino.co.uk has increasingly become more than a diary than anything, so for those who want more direct and to-the-point content about what dad life is like, my columns on Families Online will be a lot more up your street.
