I have a lot of blogs now. Something clicked last year that made me realise that I can maintain a lot more than I was at the time, so I decided that I’m going to increase the numbers because it’s really in my interest to do so.
I blog both for fun and for the money. I’ve gone on a journey and I now see how much easier it can be to turn a blog into cash, and I will actually spend thousands to acquire new ones that meet the right criteria and I can operate myself.

Let me start by going through the public portfolio besides this one:
- com – The first of this new era, with information about ways to make money, including how I was able to leave my job from very profitable Amazon FBA activity
- com – A blog full of online business case studies, offering inspiration for how people can make some cash off a website of their own
- com – Literally just a list of my kids’ favourite books
And now for some of the rest.
A Student Website
I run a student website. This one was originally owned by a university and they just wanted to evolve, so opted to create a new site for their student publication going forward. I just picked up from where they left off, rebranded and soon figured out how best to write for that audience.
In spite of having a journalism degree, I hadn’t even written for a student newspaper or website of anything like that before. I felt like it was something I had to do, but never would have imagined it would have happened like this.
These days I haven’t got much time to do the actual writing for the site, so I’ve got a couple of reliable people that do it for me, but it’s definitely one that I’m very proud to say is mine.
A Random Lifestyle Blog
I’ve got a really dry lifestyle blog which makes good money, considering how poor quality the content is on there. I literally just write whatever comes to mind, and I can’t believe that it’s still eligible for paid opportunities in spite of the lack of effort.
Technology Blog
I use tech, but I don’t care about it like that. I mean I love what opportunities come about because of technology, but I literally do not care about the next generation of any new device or emerging technology until it’s relevant to my actual needs today.
I really don’t enjoy making content for this site, but when I took it over, it came with so much quality content that I simply couldn’t turn it down.
Food Blog
While technically Hollie’s now, I was the one that acquired this and got a lot of content made for it. Since then it’s blown me away by just how easily it picks up traffic and generates advertising revenue, compared to the many other sites that I’ve got. If I cared more for food, I would definitely put much more effort into this. For now, it’s doing its thing.
Blog About Blogging
It should be no surprise that I have one of these. It’s one that I have in the stash that I do 100% of the content for, and I really enjoy digging into. While it doesn’t make as much money as I feel that it deserves, I can see the vision for the future once it’s more established. If I found this blog before I started blogging, I would be absolutely obsessed with it. I just need other people to discover it and feel the same way.
An ‘Official’ Village Blog
I was raised in a village in Nottingham, and I now live in a different one close by. I clocked that while my old one had its own publication, mine didn’t have anything of the sort. The closest was its parish council’s site. In response, I went around and took photos of all the landmarks, and then went and made the now official site for the village.
This is a sneaky one, considering that I hadn’t lived here very long when I started it, but no one else did it first, so it was an opportunity just waiting to happen. The downside of owning something based around a location I live in is that I can’t ever leave here, because someone would have to pay me £xx,xxx to take it over and run it for themselves in the future.
A Site About the Nottingham’s Biggest Event
Nottingham has a very big event each and every year. If you don’t know about it, a simple Google search will tell you what it is. The previous owner of its owner was getting rid of it for cheap, so I took it off their hands. Then I upgraded and bought the best possible domain a site like that should have. Then I added the content to it, and I’m the biggest unofficial source of information for that event.
The Others
I’ve had a lot of blog idea over the years, and I’m lucky that most of them have never left the ideation stage. Although I always grab the domain and build out categories, marketing and goals on Dropbox, I’m yet to quit on a blog that had already had content made for it (since this era – 2016 and beyond).
There are a few more, but they’re not as significant as these and aren’t making money in the way that I’d like, but as I figure out my content production processes, it’s going to be a lot easier to maintain them and making the portfolio more efficient.
