I know that we’re nearing the end of lockdown and that the thing’s (hopefully) about to become a distant memory, but we gained a fair few things from the experience. I must have mentioned a few of them on here already, but the main thing that I’m thinking about is a new-found admiration for our local area.
As I mentioned previously, I went and made a whole website for my village, as a result of the lockdown situation. The village was just one of a few nearby places that we decided to explore over the course of the various lockdowns. Through our adventures, we kept being met by other parents in the same situation – taking their kids to the only places that they could, because of the situation.
It was through those conversations that we were eventually given the tip-off that there is one park that is levels above the rest in Nottingham. And believe me when I say we tried a lot.
I took the kids to my childhood favourite – the Country Park in Ruddington. We’ve passed through Clifton a fair few times. We might have seen Bestwood along the way. We’ve been to a couple in Gamston recently. We spent time at the many that Radcliffe on Trent has to offer. Cotgrave definitely featured in our travels too.
For the kids, every single one of those adventures was great for them. But for us – we needed more out of the trips. We wanted parks with plenty of space, a variety of equipment and sights that make the ideal settings for great photos. And here it is.
I’m saying it: the Pirate Play Park off Mansfield Road is the best park in Nottingham for under 5s. It’s official.
