School’s about to start for Cameo, and it means a lot of changes. One of the big ones is that we’re meeting a lot more people as a couple. Part of that often requires us to disclose our marital status (in case the ring doesn’t give it away. When we say how long we’ve been married for, it just doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t imply nearly enough of the story. We were 9 years and 11 months deep when we said our vows, so it’s fair to say we’re extra deep in the game now. In fact, neither me known anyone either of our ages that have been together this long.
Now that we’re free to do more things, we’re trying to really make the most of it. We’ve got up to all sorts with the kids over the past few months, but me and Hollie haven’t had nearly enough alone time together. We work in different parts of the house and often have nights away together for work, but it’s not quite what we need. We need an actual break. Our second anniversary gave us the chance to actually enjoy each other’s company – rather than with a business-led incentive.
We couldn’t go away, away for our first anniversary thanks to the state of the world, and we couldn’t really this year either, so we made do with what we could do.
We booked a bad boy apartment in Bermondsey. Spent time just walking around London. Had dinner at Sky Garden. Spent a day in doing basically nothing. We just did all the kinds of things we wanted to do for a bit. We visited old places where we used to spend a lot of time – Tower Bridge, Old Kent Road, Peckham, Lewisham. We made sure to get ourselves a #12 at Morleys and reminiscence over the good old days (before this whole parenting thing came along).

Best believe next year will be a different story.
