Doin' My Job

Just before Cameo turned 1, I hit a lick with a supplier I found on eBay. It was my fastest selling product ever on Amazon, and the profit return was absolutely ridiculous. I was buying hand cream for something like £2 and selling it for anything between £16 to £20. When I say the things were flying, I’m talking 15-25 units a day. All I had to do was stay in stock.

I was buying every single unit this person on eBay had and they were sending out crates of them to my flat back in late 2017. During that time, we got a great video of Cameo helping me out. He was curious about these little yellow bottles, I wanted to hand me them one by one so I could label them and ship them off to an Amazon fulfilment centre.

It was a short-lived phase though. My supplier had simply miscalculated things and was selling these things for far cheaper than they should have done. I knew this, but wasn’t going to tell them how to run their business.

They were able to get their money back instantly by selling it to me, but there’s no way they could have made a profit from them at the price they were giving them to me for. On top of that, they were doing free shipping. It was a shambles for them and a massive win for me.

Lots has happened since then and now – I left my job, moved house, had a baby, and got more streamlined with my Amazon processes. However, one thing that hasn’t changed is that my now two munchkins still want to be involved in the process.

It’s become routine that when the UPS man swings by to deliver my media wholesaler’s order, they know that it’s an opportunity to rummage through my delivery to see if there’s anything in there that they like the look of. What you see above and below is the pair of them hunting through this mass of DVDs to find any familiar characters and show me.

You won’t believe how much of my stock has been mishandled by these small people. I’m either having cases broken, finding films under sofas or just getting my stuff stolen in plain sight as they proceed to open things up, in spite of hundreds of prior instructions to LEAVE IT ALONE!

You would have thought that I’d learn to do all of this kind of stuff while they’re in bed, yet here I am complaining that they’re interrupting me again.
