Who Said I Need Balance?

These Days

‘Balance’ is overrated. I’m bringing excess back. The past couple of years have taught me that I’m going absolutely nowhere unless I put in a lot of work. Myself and Hollie secretly had a plan that when she went on maternity leave, it would be the last time she worked a ‘real job’. She left in December 2016, and by September the following year, we knew there wasn’t a job she’d go back to the housing game. The next goal was for me to follow suit; all I needed was to make the cashflow solid and better than what I was doing in my actual job.

You know the rest of the story.

Since then I haven’t stopped. In fact, I’d say I’ve been a lot more disciplined than I was when I was trying to balance a full-time job, my first baby and a handful of online businesses. Cut out the full-time job, add another baby and a handful more businesses and I feel like I’m more in control than ever before.

It requires a lot of work. Even when I’m outsourcing lots of tasks to remote workers, managing a virtual team isn’t all that easy either. I’ve set things up in a way that means I can afford to take time off, but the way I’m living just doesn’t suit itself well to it. While I’m working from home with kids, it has to be a case that I’ll only work at the time when both of them are distracted, calm and/or asleep. During those times, I have to go hard because I know I won’t get chance when they’re active again.

All credit to tunnel vision. I know where I’m heading and I’ve finally been able to cut out all of the things that prompted procrastination. Believe it or not, educational videos were my downfall last year. I got drawn out getting excited by the new business models they were dangling in front of me, when I now I should have been sticking to the things I know and will work if I just keep on at them.

You won’t believe how much time I saved by not caring what other entrepreneurs are working on. I’m considerably more organised with work and it’s got to the point where I don’t need late nights or early mornings, because things just get done. I’ve figured out how to do more with less time.

Two years ago, I had no kids and a lot less responsibilities than now. As things stand today, I’m in a position where I have to put in the work. Or else. The thing is that I’m not missing doing anything else. I exercise for an hour every day. I get lost on YouTube daily. I go on at least one random adventure every week. It just so happens that I will be working on my businesses at some point every single day.

I working excessively and I’m having excessive fun with my kids this year and I’m not apologising for either. I shall be busy until further notice.
