I am told that I was 13 when we got a trampoline in the back garden. We got a 12-foot one, even though that meant that all of its legs would not stay on the ground at the same time. It was excessive, but that was how it had to be. We had one without netting surrounding it, because we were told we had to “be careful” and we survived. Me and my sister used it on the regular as teenagers, and were so careful that I don’t even have any tales to tell you about our time with it.
We made good use of it, and knew that once we had to take it down, it wouldn’t be the last time I had one.
Fast-forward to the point I’m in my own house with a big garden, and my kids need some more fun in their garden. We decided that the tree house had to come down, and it only made sense that it’s replacement should be a trampoline. What’s funny is that we didn’t think to measure the space and see whether it would be suitable for a structure like that.
I went through the options and decided that we had to get a 12-foot trampoline yet again (after really debating whether we go up to a 14). It was a great decision. It’s huge. There’s plenty of space for myself, Cameo and Marlo to do our thing on there. HOWEVER, it’s WAY too big for the space that once occupied the tree house. Thanks to a tree besides it, the decision to get a trampoline of this size means we’ve forfeited the privilege of having a garden to have a trampoline instead.
And I’m not mad.
Since we put it up, every single day (in spite of whatever the weather is saying) we have spent at least an hour on there doing our thing.
Now we have this, my priorities have adjusted and it’s essential that I fix up so that I master a backflip on there, before I figure out how to do it on the grass. Getting this has also made me want to get my yoga on again, because I need my flexibility back on top form, if I’m going to be able to impress these children (90% of the reason we even have this thing).
