The last time Cameo went to a local barber was not a good sight. He was so inconsistent with it. I’ve discussed the drama before, but the final time he just wasn’t on form. A few things happened that made us feel like it was going to be his last time in there, but the deal maker was when the owner proudly boasted about his only time voting was to get us out the EU (in a get-them-lot-out vibe). Skeen.
Barbershops are cultural hubs and we ended up at the wrong end of the scale. Cameo may not have been quite ready for the transition, but I couldn’t wait any longer. He needs to be around the right kind of people. There were bad vibes in that one. It’s time to take him to the barber who’s shop taught me so much about life – going there every couple of weeks since the late ‘90s, right up to the point I settled in London.

From the minute Cameo got into that shop, it was a different feel. I started by taking him along to watch me get me hair cut, before he followed in my footsteps a fortnight later.
No tears.
Rather than messing around with scissors – ultimately giving him a cut that was cleaner but wasn’t fresh at all – Barba went straight in with the clippers and got that hair all the way off. Just like that. Cameo went from a little man to my likkle man in a few minutes.
Barba was chatting to him. Cameo found the experience hilarious. It went better than we ever could have hoped for. We’re never going anywhere else after this. Marlo’s going to have to follow in exactly the same way. We’re not doing no dibby dibby local barber beforehand; we’re going straight to the man we know is going to get the job done the first time around.
After the first trip, Cameo’s second trip was just as fun, and it’s continued this way ever since. He’s been cured, and now he’s not going to have to get his hair cut by people that like to boast about contributing to Brexit. It’s win-win all round. The next update will probably come when I’ve got to get x2 hair cut at a time.
