Things feel different. Since we’ve been free to go where we like and normality has been advancing, a whole heap of experiences just seem so much more satisfying than they did before. For instance, it hits different being able to go out to dinner with my family. Another factor is that our kids are a year older (so will actually stay in their seats without bribes) but I didn’t think I cared that much that it wasn’t an option until I did it again.
So we did it again and again and again the week we were free to do so.
One of the many things that I had completely dismissed as an option was the gym. Over the course of lockdown, I’ve made a couple of improvements to my home set up, but I just decided that my gym days were done for the foreseeable future. It just didn’t align with my life anymore.
Or so I thought.
Things were just different then. It’s all changed up now.
Hollie recently hit me with the idea that it’s about time that I went back to the gym, and the hour that followed led me on a self-discovery journey. It turns out I really the gym a lot more than I thought and I’ve got to admit that my set up is lagging in so many ways that a 24-hour fully kitted-out gym can solve very easily.
Once I saw that my gym membership would actually be cheaper than it was pre-lockdown and that they’re about to open a branch half the distance from this one in a few months, it was decided: I’ve got a new destination to head out to 6 days a week once again. And I’m going to absolutely rinse out that membership.
I’m properly back where I belong. I see that it’s a bit busier than it used to be when I was in last February, but besides that, this is how things should be.
