A Quiet Day in Sheffield

Scroll

For someone that took Geography as a degree, I sure am lacking with local knowledge. (Hollie loves to remind me of this any time she asks me where anything is in Nottingham.) A wild revelation came to light when the four of us were asked to meet up at an Argos in Sheffield. Guess what?

Sheffield is just an hour’s drive from Nottingham(?!?)

Since when?

Anyway, we were in for a full day of surprises from there. With the whole gang in the car, we headed up the M1 to find out what the deal was.

I’ve only ever been to Sheffield once before. It would have been for a WWE show in 2002. It was my very first and it was when I still used to draw every member of the SmackDown roster on an ever growing taped string of A4 paper (with The Rock in the centre, of course). I remember John Cena taking on Val Venis, and a tag match at the end which included Borkc and Rikishi. Edge, Kurt Angle and Rey Mysterio were definitely there too.

Well history just repeated itself, as WWE happened to be the reason I headed back to the Steel City.

A few months back Braun Strowman destroyed a sports car on Raw, and there was a toy release soon after – the Wrekkin’ Slam Mobile. Argos were kind enough to let us know that Braun was around and wanted to link up at the Meadowhall Argos a few hours before the main meet-and-great happened.

Yes, he’s wearing Crocs

We all know he’s tall, yeah? But the size of his overall frame is just mad. It’s given me another reason to avoid thinking about becoming a pro wrestler.

After we took a couple photos with him, Braun let us know that he had some gifts for both Marlo and Cameo. He came through like a jacked Santa and pulled two pairs of bags out. One of each of the pairs was wrapped up Wrekkin’ Slam Mobile. Braun coached Cameo as he unwrapped the goods. The little fella then couldn’t believe it when he saw Braun on the box, in the box and right in front of him, so ran away – assuming it must be Braun’s!

Braun helped Marlo with his before they did the mini vs massive high five thing, and then the team there let us know that they had tickets for us to go to the show in Sheffield that night.

What a day.

Hollie had business to attend to in London, so while she got a train to the capital, I drove the kids back, fed them, bedded them and then had to arrange a babysitter and a guest within an hour. Me and my sister arrived just as the show began.

WWE Live in Sheffield Becky Lynch - Chiino.co.uk

WWE Live is always great and this was no different. I need to give props to Bobby Roode and Elias, because I don’t think anyone gives them enough credit for what they do. Everyone in the main event (Corbin, Lashley, McIntyre, Rollins, Reigns and Strowman) did their thing too.

Cameo has spent most of his time hyping about Braun, and playing with the car, Braun and other figures he got in the other bag; Matt Hardy and Natalya.

Big ups to the Argos and WWE UK teams for a crazy day in Sheffield. While I have your attention, bless your kids up with a Wrekkin’ Slam Mobile.
