Little Tikes have got this outdoor fun thing on lock. You can spend forever going through their website looking for something to light up a little person’s life. We’ve got a fair few things from them over the past three years, most notably this trike. At the start of the lockdown, when the sun was proper beating, we decided that we needed to go and invest in a quality outdoor climbing something for the ladsdem to stop them making the front room their playground.
After lots of consideration, we decided that Little Tikes Fun Zone Tumblin’ Tower was the one for us. It’s a proper summer piece, it’s got lots of elements to it and it suits both of our kids (with one 3.5 and one coming up to 2 years old).
So we got it. And we had it. And it was here. And nothing happened. For weeks. Me and Hollie literally bought and it had it sitting in the garage for weeks, daring one another to be the person to say it was about time that we got started on actually making it. We saw those instructions and knew it was a big job, so week after week passed and we had so many excuses as to why we weren’t doing it yet.
After all, we would only be able to do it when we wouldn’t be interrupted by the kids, so it had to be once they went to bed.
So the list of reasons NOT to make it went a little something like this:
- “Gotta do my hair tonight”
- “It’s going to rain tomorrow”
- “I’ve got a deadline”
- “How about Sunday?”
Eventually we psyched ourselves up to make this almighty tower on this specific day when it was going to be dry the day after and we could both agreed to pause on our work for the evening.
And it took a full four hours to do.
Honestly, the instructions were very easy to follow. Incredibly easy to follow, actually. But it just takes a lot of time to do. And it involves a drill. And it’s definitely a two-person job, so I would expect most people to dilly dally before they put their minds towards making it themselves.
Once it was up, the kids just loved it. I think we had a four day stretch of the kids coming downstairs and wanting to go and play with it even before they ate their breakfast. They proper love it.
At the moment the kids have a lot of beef about ownership of toys. Thankfully, with a slide, the water section and the ball conveyer, there’s plenty to keep them both occupied, without having the clash. Of course we have to deal with them fighting over who gets to pull the balls down from the bucket every day, but this is something that they can both properly enjoy together. I have to say that the intimal time investment is definitely worth it, because the kids are really making the most of this tower set-up.
Little Tikes Fun Zone Tumblin’ Tower is proper value for money, and if you shop around you should be able to get it for the price we did: something like £130.
