I think it happens twice a year: something happens in our household that makes both myself and Hollie’s mind ‘click’ and rethink the way that we have been operating. We had two in 2018: one to leave London and the second was to get Cameo in nursery. Last year we had another couple: get married and focus on a handful of projects.
This year I think we’re just had our first major one: do ALL of the projects we want to do.
Forever I have been aware that the best way to operate is to focus on one thing at a time. Over time, it’s been difficult to do that, because I’ve got a fair few things that are working, and need attention to keep them running. But when I’ve constantly got new ideas distracting me, it’s hard to stay focused. It means that we feel unfulfilled and as though we’re letting opportunities slip us by.
So we’re flipping the script and have decided that the best way to stay focused on minimal projects is to actually do everything that we want to do. But this time – with a plan. It’s actually intentional this time, rather than an interjection while we’re in full flow with something else. So far, so good. I’ve decided that we can manage a new project per month. In our first month, a great opportunity came our way that meant we actually got two done in the first half of the month – clean.
We’re properly going for it though; I’m not just talking about solely blogs here. Although I would say that it’s our priority, as we know exactly how to monetise them, the current schedule also includes:
- Multiple ecommerce sites (dropshipping and erm, whatever the regular version is
- A couple of YouTube channels
- A marketplace
- A search engine
- A couple of directories
All of this requires a lot of assistance, which is why I’m going in on People Per Hour, and we’ve been very resourceful in hunting down suitable assistance that will get these things up and running, and in a position whereby we only need to do minimal work to keep them afloat thereon.
I’m absolutely certain we can get all of these things live in the timescales I’ve laid down; I’m just not so sure we’ll have the stamina to keep them all going. Will I update you on all of this? I’d like to say so, but I’m really not a fan of sharing failure. Just know that if I say I’m too buy for something in the next year, I properly mean it.
See you on the other side.
